Notre Dame Versus Catholics? What?

Interesting little skirmish here. What I love is that, for the first time in his presidency, Obama comes out smelling like a rose. Relatively speaking, of course. But only because he kept his pie hole shut. So far.

The militant “Catholics” who are opposing Obama’s address are, quite simply, denying the principle of free speech, a time-honored “Catholic” tradition—the denial, not the principle. But why in the name of the beard of Zeus would they want to forfeit the opportunity to hear one of the finest orators in recent political history speak? Wait…oh, never mind. Anyway, there’s no question that it’s a feather in Notre Dame’s pope hat to land the prez-o-dint for this gig. But because he doesn’t philosophically agree with Holy Mother Church’s (man, I love using that phrase) pro-life stance, some of the loyal want to abort his speaking engagement.

This, mind you, in spite of the fact that “Catholics” voted 55-45 for Obama in November. Clearly there is some disconnect in the ranks. And it is another example of how the “Catholics” have little regard for our rule of law when it conflicts with their agenda: see illegal immigration (http://layinablog.wordpress.com/2008/11/14/those-wacky-catholics-are-at-it-again/).

From the AP article: “Five years ago, bishops adopted a statement that declared: ‘The Catholic community and Catholic institutions should not honor those who act in defiance of our fundamental moral principles. They should not be given awards, honors or platforms which would suggest support for their actions.’” Hmmmm…does not electing Obama president constitute an award or honor? Those bishops must be sitting around in their self-celebrating pansy ass nightgowns wringing their hands over this one. No, I sit corrected, they are not. Because it is Obama’s policies that will bring more money into the coffers. And that’s what it’s all about.

I disagree with the verdict, personally, although neither side is blameless. But these 2 Parrish assholes are clearly redneck dirtbags who committed worse crimes than those for which they were convicted, and deserve a lot more time than whatever they’re going to get.  HOWEVER…

If you cheered when OJ went free, you don’t get to whine about a possible race-driven jury motive here. You abdicated that right the moment you decided that a lame ploy like “If the glove doesn’t fit, you must acquit” trumps 170 million-to-1 DNA odds against OJ being innocent. Even Dave Chappelle made fun of that verdict.

 I predict that Al Sharpton will be in town by Thursday.
